Hi, I'm Ashlee DiDomenico. I am a sophomore, majoring in Linguistics, History, and German. I've been crocheting for 20 years, and knitting for 12 years. I'm the current Social Media Coordinator, so I'm already familiar with the goals and vision of the club. I'm running for President because I feel like I can lead this club forward, continuing our service and community outreach, and spreading a love of fiber arts!
My name is Kelsey Kayton and I am presently a Freshman at Pitt. I am hoping to be a Psychology major and Spanish minor. Other than crocheting, my interests include tennis, ice hockey, reading, drawing, and hanging out with friends. I would like to run for the position of Vice President because I want to help the Pittsburgh community and share my passion of crocheting with others. Also, I think I can improve the connection between the members and officers in choosing the club events.
My name is Peri Walker and I am a sophomore English literature, theatre arts, and economics triple major. I have been knitting for over ten years and I love being able to use one of my most relaxing and creative hobbies to help others. I believe I would be a good business manager because I have experience working with money and because my economics classes have taught me how to make smart financial decisions. I am extremely organized and dedicated and would be very excited to be more involved with Pitt Knits.
I'm Vanessa Colihan, and I've been going to Pitt Knits meetings for a while now, and I really love the concept, the cause, and the people in it. I was really excited when I learned there was a club for knitting/crocheting! And I want to help make sure that it can continue to be there for others as well... which is why I want to run for an officer position. I think the best fit for me would be business manager. I'm not a finance major or anything, but I'm reasonably good at keeping track of my own money, and would be willing to learn anything I needed to know for the position. I've had leadership experience in various group projects in the past, so I believe I'd be able to step it up as an officer!
Hello! My name is Lillie Cutugno and I am running for the Events Coordinator Position. I am from South Jersey and am currently a freshman, planning to apply into the Emergency Medicine program and stay on the Pre-Physician's Assistant track.
I fell in love with knitting when I was in fourth grade and learned how to crochet in high school, crochet being primarily the projects I do now (though I love both just as much!). I am passionate about the club's goal to provide for those in need, and love that everyone in the club uses their beautiful talent for service! With these values in mind, I would strive to continue this.
I have learned about an organization called "Operation Gratitude". They send care packages to troops in Afghanistan, wounded soldiers, and veterans, and collect knitted/crocheted scarves. This is one service project that if the club was interested in I would love to help organize as events coordinator! I would also love planning club bonding activities and events to get to know each other better. I am also in Ballet Club, Hooligans field hockey, and the Pre-PA club. I believe as a friendly person who is very good with time management, I would do very well in this position! Thanks for considering me!
Hey there my name is Josie Manns and I am running for the position of Events Coordinator. I am a freshman and joined Pitt Knits at the beginning of the fall semester. Coming into the club I had no idea how to knit or crochet. Now, however, I can do both! Pitt Knits does wonderful things for several charities in the Pittsburgh community, so I truly wanted to dedicate myself by making it to every general board meeting, movie night, learning event, and even PMADD to stay updated. I am a marketing major here at Pitt, and I was my high school’s newspaper president for two years. These considering, I am really interested and slightly experienced in coming up with ideas for events, working with others to plan them out, and getting lots of people involved. I love the message that anyone willing to learn or those who are already knowledgeable about the fiber arts can come together to help the community by just doing what we love. I have already come up with some new, creative ideas for events for next year. I hope you vote for me because it would be honor to oversee the fun things that we will all get to do together next year.
Social Media Coordinator
Hi my name is Ashley Divens. I am a freshman and I am looking to major in either environmental science or biology. I joined Pitt Knits at the beginning of last semester which is when I first learned how to knit and I am currently learning how to crochet. I am running for the position of Social Media Coordinator because I would love for more people to know about Pitt Knits and about the events we participate in such as service, arm knitting, movie nights, and PMADD. I partook in all of these events last semester and they were a lot of fun! Therefore, since everyone uses social media, I would like to actively advertise these events on facebook, twitter, instagram and our blog in order to make people interested in our great club! I am also active on many social media platforms and I ran a blog on wordpress when I was younger so I am fairly familiar with the formats of these websites! I really hope you vote for me so I can work with all of you collectively to make Pitt Knits even better!
My name is Chloe Reshetar-Jost and I am a junior studying Psychology with a minor in Studio Arts. In addition to crocheting, I really like dogs and food. I would like to run for Social Media Coordinator because I think I could help Pitt Knits to not only keep current members up to date, but also keep organizations within the community updated on our events to ensure that our service has the maximum impact.
Kayla is Pitt Knit's social media coordinator. In addition to the blog, Kayla runs Pitt Knit's facebook, twitter and instagram accounts. She is a senior at Pitt, and is majoring in history and political science and minoring in economics. She has been knitting for 13 years and crocheting for one year!
