About Pitt Knits
We are a service oriented student organization at the University of Pittsburgh that got its start as an organization in the fall of the 2015-2016 academic year! We started with the collective idea that we would knit and crochet our hearts out and give back to our community by donating hats, blankets, scarves, etc. to charitable organizations in the Pittsburgh area. Check out our donations page to see what we have accomplished thus far. Since our start we have made so many wonderful relationships with the fiber arts community and the volunteering community on and around campus! We welcome all knitters and crocheters of all skill levels to join this closely knit organization and to share their passion with fellow students!
Pitt Knits Officers 2017-2018
President- Ashlee DiDomenico
"I am a junior majoring in Linguistics, German and History. I've been knitting for about 13 years, and crocheting for 25, and I also spin my own yarn. When I'm not playing with fluffy stuff, I'm curled up with one of my kitties, reading a good book or playing video games."
Vice President- Kelsey Kayton
"I am a sophomore at Pitt, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Spanish. I have been crocheting for almost two years. Other than crocheting, my hobbies include tennis, ice hockey, reading, doodling, traveling, and watching movies/ TV shows."
Business Manager- Peri Walker
"I am a junior majoring in English literature and theatre arts, with minors in economics, poetry writing, and classics. I have been knitting for about ten years and learned to crochet this past summer. I can also be seen around campus choreographing with Pitt Ballet Club, performing with UP Stages, and watching squirrels."
Events Coordinator- Josie Manns
“I am a sophomore majoring in Marketing and Business Information Sciences. After graduating from Pitt, I hope to get a job here in the Pittsburgh area, but the major goal is opening my own business one day! I learned how to knit about a year ago during my freshman year of college with the help of the past officers and learned how to crochet shortly after! Along with loving to crochet and knit in my spare time, I also enjoy baking, traveling, watching movies/TV, petting as many dogs as I can, and buying so many books that I know I will never be able to read them all.“
Social Media Coordinator- Ashley Divens
"I am a sophomore, majoring in biology and minoring in chemistry. After graduating, I would love to do research, preferably at the Hillman Cancer Center. I've only been knitting and crocheting for a little over one year, but my abilities have come a long way during that time! Other than knitting and crocheting, I love to watch Netflix, read, take naps, eat rice cakes, and play with my cats and my 2- year- old nephew!
